North Austin Residence Kitchen and Master Bath Remodel Project
Time-sensitive project completed on time and within budget!
We started this kitchen and master bath project knowing that we could not be late or behind schedule as the clients were expecting a new baby boy very soon and they needed assurance their newly remodeled home would be peaceful and quite prior to his arrival.
Demolition & Custom Cabinet Installation
The existing kitchen was completely removed for the installation of the custom shaker-style cabinets with dovetail-style drawer detail with soft close drawer guides and blum-soft close hinges at the doors. With space to work at the far end of the kitchen area, we were able to build-out for a full pantry closet with double 2’6” shaker style doors and shelving.
The island cabinet build included bins for recycling and separate trash. The exterior finishes on the cabinets were finished with Benjamin Moore low-luster white with a contrasting coral blue at the island cabinet.
Countertops, Backsplash & Custom Lighting
The white subway backsplash tiles are highlighted with dimmable LED under-cabinet lighting supplied by Lighting Inc. and really sets off the LG Viatera, Alpha countertops. The veined countertops are popular in design and bring a modern element into the Shaker style kitchen cabinets and subway tile backsplash.
Flooring Installation
The tile products were supplied locally by The Tile Shop in Austin. We installed large 30”x 30” Natural grey, porcelain tiles in the entire kitchen area. This really brought the area together giving it a large expansive look and feel to the entire kitchen, pantry, and island area.
Modern Master Bath: Custom Shower, Cabinets, Countertops with Backsplash, Sink & Fixtures
In the master bathroom we removed the existing tub/shower area, lavatory cabinets and closet area to make room for a custom shower with a 3/8” clear glass panel. The clients opted for the fixed panel for easy access and an open bath design.
The cabinets and Alpa countertops matched the kitchen design for a consistent feel throughout the home. We installed a white rectangular under-mounted sink with classic chrome fixtures and a mosaic backsplash tile that highlighted the framed mirror details.
The shower area was completed with Snow White, textured tile vertically installed for a bright modern look. We brought continuity from the cabinet and countertop into the shower area using the LG Viatera, Alpha as a detail on the shower curb, the veining in the quartz material was a nice detail in this area with the shower glass panel. The floor tile for the bath was in a white 16”x 16” tile set in a staggered joint pattern giving the bath a modern Roman look to ensure the design was in line with the client’s expectations.
Overcoming Challenges To Meet Deadlines
There were some unexpected delays related to existing framing issues, however, we were able to repair the issues and move forward on the build only losing 3-4 days throughout the entire project.
The clients loved the spaces that were created and we enjoyed bringing their vision to reality within the time frame agreed upon which allowed over 4 weeks of relaxation before they brought their beautiful bouncing boy home!!!
